Welcome to 1st semester Art at Thales Academy!

Welcome to Thales Academy Wake Forest Art Class!  Here you can find current art projects and resources to extend your knowledge beyond the art classroom.  I am enthusiastic about art, art history, and creative projects you can do at home!

Why is art important?

I am a huge advocate of art education.  I have heard of art programs being cut through schools in recent years.  Many schools are quick to eliminate critical programs such as visual arts because they simply do not understand the valuable benefits that children receive when they are emerged within art education.

Art is not just making things pretty.

Art enhances children’s cognitive development improving concentration, channels creative thought to generate a positive attitude, and provides an outlet to exercise emotional control while building self esteem.  Art in its many forms can reach children on a variety of levels, providing a positive experience that will further engage them socially and educationally.

ART enhances children’s cognitive development which can help kids with their early math skills.
ART helps children’s social and emotional development.
ART helps children build self-esteem.
ART encourages Self Exploration and gives the opportunity to make a personal statement about their uniqueness.
ART lends itself to a child’s physical development and the enhancement of fine and gross motor skills.
ART is open-ended and all work can be honored.
